Why I Hate Driving

Happy Wednesday my loyal followers! As you might have noticed, the rant that I was going to post Friday did indeed get deleted from my computer (damn Microsoft Word). I realized that I haven’t ranted in a while though, and now’s as good of time as any.

Anyways, I’m pretty sure I’ve never told you guys about my driving experiences.  It seems like since I first started drivers ed, the universe has been doing everything it can to make driving horrible for me. On my first day of class, I spent a good 15 minutes trying to find the building that my drivers ed school was in. It was in a strip mall and it was almost impossible to find it. I had an address, but unfortunately the address listed on Google was not the school’s, but in fact the neighboring Navy recruitment center. Neither of the building has signs or displays, so me, having never been there before, didn’t realized that I was about to walk into the wrong place. So here I am, 15, and walking into a military recruitment office.

As soon as I walked in, everyone looked up at me and stared. I suppose my first hint that it wasn’t a drivers ed school was the giant cardboard cut-out of a soldier dressed in camouflage and holding a machine gun in the corner behind me.  One of the soldiers asked me if I was looking for someone, or if I was interested in a military career. I had to explain to him that no, I was not a potential recruit, but just a freshman that wanted to learn to drive. Now for most people this wouldn’t have been a big deal. You walk into the wrong place, you walk out, no worries. However, I was an awkward freshman, which means that I could not just simply leave, that would be too easy. Instead of just walking out the door like a normal person, I tripped on my way out, and knocked over the soldier cut-out, which fell into and knocked over a brochure holder.

Clearly this was not one of my finest moments. I alternated between apologizing and hastily picking up pamphlets. Some of the recruits came over to help, and one of them told me that it’d be better if I just left, so I ended up backing out the door, still apologizing.  I ended up being 30 minutes late for my drivers ed class, and being questioned by my teacher as to why I was late. I didn’t have the heart to tell him that I just trashed the Navy recruitment center, so instead I just made up some lie about not knowing what time the class started at.

Trust me, that’s just the start of all the awkward shit I did attempting to learn to drive. Who knows, maybe I’ll rant about more of it some other week. Anyways until next week my loyal followers, stay safe, eat your veggies, and avoid military centers at all cost.

I’ll see if I can get it back/rewrite it by Friday as a weekend gift for you lovely folks. Without further adue, here’s the next installment of Media Monday Wednesday.
